Egg cooling could lessen salmonella illnesses

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- While people across the country have been sickened by a recent outbreak of salmonella poisoning possibly linked to eggs from Iowa producers, a Purdue University food scientist believes the poultry industry could implement a rapid egg cooling technology to reduce future outbreaks.

380 million shell eggs recalled

GALT, Iowa -- Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa, is voluntarily recalling shell eggs produced by their farms that have been linked to an increase in human Salmonella enteritis illnesses.
