FOREST PARK, Ga. -- Georgia egg producers have reaffirmed the Georgia Egg Commission's program for another three years by a 94.4 percent favorable vote.
The commission must be reaffirmed every three years with a favorable vote of at least 66 2/3 percent of eligible egg producers casting ballots.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture announced that 28 eligible producers were mailed ballots for voting during the Feb. 16-March 16 referendum. Eighteen ballots were returned with 17 voting in favor and one negative.
The commission, which is funded entirely from a producer-paid assessment of 5 1/2 cents per 30 dozen eggs, provides the egg industry with promotion, education and research programs.
