NEW ORLEANS -- Bob Stallman was re-elected president of the American Farm Bureau Federation and Barry Bushue, a nursery and berry producer from Oregon, was elected AFBF vice president at the 89th American Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting held here.
Stallman, a cattle and rice producer from Columbus, Texas, was elected to a fifth two-year term as president. Bushue, from Boring, Ore., succeeds Steve Appel, a wheat and barley producer from Dusty, Wash., who retired.
In addition, two state presidents were newly elected to the AFBF board of directors: California Farm Bureau President Doug Mosebar and Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Mike Spradling.
Fourteen state Farm Bureau presidents were re-elected to represent their regions on the AFBF board of directors:
Midwest Region -- Steve Baccus, Kansas; Charles Kruse, Missouri; Philip Nelson, Illinois; and Scott VanderWal, South Dakota.
Southern Region -- Marshall Coyle, Kentucky; John Hoblick, Florida; Jerry Newby, Alabama; Wayne Pryor, Virginia; Stanley Reed, Arkansas; David Waide, Mississippi; and David Winkles, South Carolina.
Northeast Region -- John Lincoln, New York; and Richard Nieuwenhuis, New Jersey.
Western Region -- Leland Hogan, Utah.
Townsend Kyser of Alabama was elected the new chairman of the AFBF Young Farmer and Rancher Committee, which also makes him a member of the AFBF board of directors.
Terry Gilbert of Kentucky continues to serve as chairwoman of the AFB Women's Leadership Committee and on the AFBF board of directors. Re-elected to the AFB Women's Leadership Committee were Beth Pool, New Jersey; Frances Price, South Carolina; and Margene Harris, New Mexico. Newly elected to the committee was Isabella Chism of Indiana.
