Negotiators reach tentative farm bill deal

WASHINGTON -- Congressional negotiators reached a tentative agreement May 2 on a multibillion-dollar farm bill that includes a hefty increase for nutrition programs at a time of rising food prices.

WASHINGTON -- Senate Republicans have asked environmental regulators to use their power to halt the country's plans to expand ethanol production amid rising food prices.

Fresh and frozen meat poultry products recalled

WASHINGTON -- Gourmet Boutique LLC of Jamaica, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling approximately 286,320 pounds of fresh and frozen meat and poultry products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to USDA's Food Safety & Inspection Service.
